ok, my pday was wed last week becuase of transfers. During transfers pday is the day you transfer. while in mito i will email on thursday, but my pday is monday. I email thursday cause the place is closed on mondays. BUT yesterday in district meeting we found out that the day of PDAY might get changed again. There have been quite a lot of changes. There is no music list now, so what ever music, that we think is appropriate and the music we will have to pray about and decide on our own.
Yes during the last 2 transfers i had to go to tokyo to switch comps, not so fun. each transfer was one of the farthest areas, so it was about 5 hours by train each time. But i dont know whats going on this transfer since this is my comps last. We will find out soon enough.
Well it sounds like you enjoyed camp other than burning yourself. But as for Breggie, thats awsome. She must be really improving. I hope she is still playing when i get home, i want to see how good she has gotten. But tell her not to complain, once she plays 3 days straight with at least 6 games and not getting subbed then she can ha As for the box. Ive been loving the brownies! so lots more of those would be nice. I remember us finding waffle crisp at the store by wendy`s. But other than those ill be happy with anything, just make sure its kinda a lot if you send it in this transfer. My comp likes to raid all the food when im in the shower or bathroom, so all my snacks nd food that i had gotten is pretty much gone. Oh and maybe a razor and shaving cream. my electric one does good, but not all the time. Ive never used an actuall razor, just casue im scared of cutting myself, so if there is a kind that wont cut ha please and thank you.
Ok well the weather here has been kinda sucky. Always Super Hot and Super HUmid so im sweating 24/7, not a fan... And on top of that there has been freak rain storms. It would pour rain every 10 to 15 minutes. Hopefully thats over. swaet is enough to soak my close right now.
Well after emailing we plan on taking about a hour bike ride to a part of our area that the missionaries usually dont go to just cause its far. So hopefully we can find some success there. Last week we went on the daigaku(college) and saw people playing soccer. Well we talked to one of the players and i told him ive played for 14 years, so i was invited to practice with them. So it might be a little sketchy, i have no cleats and the field is litterally soft dirt only. But it will be fun hopefully, and we may possibly get an investigator that way.
Um Well im not excited to stay in Mito any longer, there is a reason im sure, but the people are so hard hearted that they wont stop to talk to us, the past couple days our 10:2:10 has been 4:0:4 or below. those numbers are conversations, referrals, and refferal attempts. So people dont give us the time of day. PLus having a trunky comp who wants to sit in the aparto or, bike and not stop anyone doesnt help much. But im doing my best.
The only good part about this place so far is a couple of the families in the ward. I sent some letters on tuesday, so monday for you, so be looking for those.
I love you!

ok i would send emails to brock and kira, but i dont know how to save their address in this system and they dont, send emails that much, so i cant send anything to them.
But this is a quick announcement. Today was transfers. Im staying in mito, but i have gotten a new companion. Another Japanese elder, lucky me.... i think. His name is elder Adachi, he is from sendai. These next 6 weeks with me are his last, because he is finished after them. so my first 4 transfers i will have 4 different companions. Kinda sucks cause your supposed to be untied and work together, but its hard wen your comp changes each transfer. So now i have to start all over building trust and realationship and all that. But it should be fun, he can speak english pretty goodn and understands it better than my last comp. So i will be getting more help.
Im sending an email today because of tranfers our pday gets moved to tranferday. Um not much is going on. I got the box with the goods, thank you so much. Ill hopefully send a letter to reply to dads letter and yours from the box either today if i have time, or monday. This is short, sorry but a little over 6 hours on a train doesnt leave much time for email and food shopping. I love you cant wait to read your emails next thursday, well wednesday for you. LOVE YOU!!! Elder Preston Coffey

ok well as for the new monday pday, im not the biggest fan. The place that we email from is closed on monday, and there is no where else i am allowed to email from in this town, which is kind of odd.. So for this week and at least next week maybe ill be emailing on thursday still. Also thursday Pdays i like better because it gives a break in the middle of the week, instead of going all week without one. Now on mondays we end pday an hour early to email on another day.
I think that my new misson president is from utah but i dont remember. He is very smart and very successful person. A professor at stanford BYU michigan and 1 or 2 others. And he is on the top level of different corpoations. I will definatly be learning a lot from him. The weather here has been heating up a lot, and feels like getting more humid. Luckily it hasnt rained for about a week.
That seems like the way a lot of people are dying these days, sleeping pills. I sent a letter to the house you should be getting it soon. Plus i was going to email this monday, so it might be to late now, but if you read this in Utah and still have time, i think you should go visit President and Sister Hill (well now brother and sister hill). 1313 East Creek Road Sandy,UT 84903. That would mean a lot to me and them if you did. Cause i know that all they went back to was family and friends.
Im excited for Utah because there are things to do. The season actually change, its not just sun and rain like SD. AS for the money ill probably leave it in there for right now, or at least for a couple weeks. I have figured how i can use my MSF on the food and stuff throught the week so i wont run out of that. 300 bucks a month about 50 bucks each week, should work. I got an email from garrett so when im done with yours and family, im seeing what it says, its probably about what happened to him. I would love to have the scout shirt, but i dont ever where normal clothes enough so it would probably be sitting in a drawer here. so it would be better staying with you.
ONe thing that i would like sometime it doesnt have to be soon, maybe for christmas or something, but a MINI Bible. I have a tiny, mini BOM so its easy to travel to meeting with that, but my quad is shuch a mondai( problem). I have also finished the 4 gosples and have continued into acts and im in the last chapter of Jesus the christ. The feeling i get from the bible is something all together different than from the BOM its crazy.
This past week we have met with one of our english students and have been teaching him. He understands everything, but always says it seems like buddhism, he leaves for china in a couple days so we arent sure whats gunna happen with him. I did here from the girl from oregon, i think i wrote about it in the letter i sent. But she said she has never made a better decision in her life.
Yea well neat spots in this town are a giant park that has swans and crazy fish. Thats about it. I thnk im like a hour or so from the water maybe, im not to sure. Oh a neat experience i had, i got to anoint someone with oil for the first time, and after the blessings she gave us something interesting to eat, which will be explained in the next paragraph.
Ok well ive got some things to say ha that i have realized this past week. WEll first is ive been here 6 weeks already, transfer calls come saturday morning, chances are me and my comp are staying here, but i dont know. Second thing is ive realized that since ive been here ive been able to eat anything without getting sick or thinking it is gross. For example, after the blessing i ate squid that was stuffed with rice. It was everything but the tenticals. It was actually kinda good. Then yesterday, i had som INDO CURRY, shock huh, well it was amazing 10 times better then the stuff i had in utah ha. And another shock to you and dad probably, I eat onions. They dont bug me now, its so weird, but ive realized its a blessing.
Yesterday during my district meeting i have also figured out my main reason for coming on a mission. It might be kind of selfish, but oh well. Its so that i can become a stronger, better person and member of the church.
I love you all so much LOVE YOU

NEWS FLASH!! I had interviews with the New Mission President. He is really awsome. Crazy smart and CRAZY successful ha, But after today my PDAYS will be on Mondays for me here, so sunday for you. I dont know why he is changing days but he is, So we get to email and right letters on monday as well. 2 pdays in like 5 days.... nice
This week im doing good, Just really tired still from lack of sleep. Teaching english is pretty fun. 2 of the eikaiwa (english class) students that we teach at the church are investigators, slowly progressing ive come to find out. So we have met with them since last email. But no sympathy for my teachers, they were teaching english to people who could speak english ha, im not. So how did Micheal Jackson die? That sounds like it was good to watch, they probably show a lot of his stuff on tv now huh?
Your 4th of July sounded good, I got to bike around in the rain all day. No fire works, mail, new investigators,or any one on the streets to talk to and no one would anser their door. So that was a trying day. But i went on splits with my district leader the next day and it was pretty good. Where did Dane serve again? that is crazy he is home that seemed way fast. My mission seems to be going by fast for me at least, i realized when i was wrighting in my journal that im about a quarter done ha. Well i would rather be in San Diego right now when it comes to weather. With the humidity im always sweating. Even when it rains, its freaking hot. So wearing a rain suit plus the heat, plus the humidity ha my clothes get drenched, not by rain, BY SWEAT. That stuff in the box will be great.
I got your letter yesterday or the day before, so ill be sending a reply to that today sometime. How is breggie doing in goal, for some reason that popped into my head the otherday. Is she going to try out for the soccer team at helix?? I hope people send me pictures of these weddings and things, they would be nice to see. BUT since when was Christie pregnant, well have fun on that trip. As for the money. I got an electric Dictionary, which was really needed here, then i thought i had a good amount left so i took out more for train travel and snacks/food. So im doing my best not to spend anymore of that for a while, but yea how about you tell me when it is ok for me to take out my 10000 yen. Ill be fine now because im pretty sure i wont be getting in any accidents. Im the safer kid in the family when it comes to cars and bikes ha. That sucks about Chase, where was the high adventure camp this year? AHH SOCCER I NEED TO PLAY HA. I havent actually done running since my last game in California. I luckily havent gained any weight which is kinda werid ha. You better keep my updated on the housing and stufff, i think im the most excieted out of everyone to move to utah.
Um i have been doing mougi, or practice lessons with members, so ive been learning new tango sorry, vocab and how to do better at teaching. Right now in this area there isnt really anything that i can say that stands out about the rest, it all has its ups and downs here.
Yea me and my comp joke around all the time. He always askes me to help his english and i always ask him to help my japanese, so its great. He came out last year in December, he only had to be in th J MTC for 3 weeks since he is japanese. He is only 9 days older than me. His birthday is the 9th and mine 18th. I dont think he plays sports, but he likes watching volleyball and figure skating. He is the only active member in his family. But he is very good at the piano. He also can play the clarinet, trumpet and trambone. He likes when you sent the food, a lot of the stuff you sent he tried for the first time, and loved it ha. Especially the gold fish and choco cookies. I love you so Much, when things get going. And more interesting, I will let you know
LOVE YOU ALL, Elder Coffey

July 1, 2009

So one of the ward members told me that Micheal JAckson died, ha is that true? If so give me details. Wow life seems pretty busy for breggie and the you two, but what about brock? There are so many things happening, i better be getting pictures. If i wasnt here id be going with grandma and grandpa ha. Things are going pretty good with me and my comp. We have had a couple lessons, in english and japanese. Everyone wants to learn english and only want to speak english when they can, so its very hard speaking japanese to our investigators. So i am also an english teacher here, every saturday morning we do english class at the church. Since my comp is japanese i teach. Then every tuesday at a home for the handicapped, i teach handicapped people and old people, they are both pretty fun. Im running out of ideas though so can you help me with A LOT of games that would help people learn english please... We are in a ward, very small ward. Um we try and split time between things everyday, so we street, bike, pass out english class flyers, house, post. We do as much different types of work we can do in the time we have. Streeting and stopping people on the streets is the hardest though. Most all the people are on one main street, so we are there often, but everyone knows who we are now. Hope everything is going well with you all, i didnt get to much time on the comp today so i have to cut mine kinda short. I love you all so much Love Elder Coffey
